Hidden Gems Literary Emporium, a family-owned, non-profit, community bookstore is embarking on its second #1000FreeBookTour in July 2022 going from New Jersey to Florida giving away 1000 free books and educational resources.
Co-founders Kaila Boulware Sykes, Raymond Sykes, and their 2-year-old son Truth Imanu’el Sykes went on their first free book tour in July 2021, one month after they opened. The couple describes it as a life-changing experience as they recall the smiles they encountered after giving away free books, games, and educational tools to families.
Since then, they have distributed over 15,000 books across the world, to schools, communities, and families through their community events and Free Book Festival program.
In January, their efforts were featured on The Today Show with Hoda and Jenna.
“In the short time Hidden Gems Literary Emporium has been opened, countless people have been touched by their service…They’re giving books away! How incredible is that?! It’s an organization that we should all look for and try to help out.” -Jenna Bush Hager
Hidden Gems Literary Emporium is currently fundraising for a Free Mobile Library, a Class A RV converted into a mobile book experience where they will give away free books, host literary classes, and more! They hope to take this mobile library on their next #1000FreeBookTour next month in July 2022 and include it in their community events and Free Book Festival programs.
