Furry Friends, Fiestas and Furlongs: A Big Week on Tap for City Center New Brunswick

New Brunswick’s hub of fine food, shopping, and the arts – is preparing a fun week full of fiestas, furry friends, and furlongs.

The Kentucky Derby watch party will make you feel like you’re at Churchill Downs for The Run for the Roses on Saturday, May 7.

Three TV trucks will be stationed at Harvest Moon Brewery & Café, George Street Ale House, The Social Room, and Tavern on George starting at about 4:30 p.m., with post time for the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby scheduled for 6:57 p.m.

In the spirit of the time-honored Kentucky Derby tradition, party-goers are encouraged to attend by sporting their snazziest suits and oversized, elaborate hats.

There will be games, prizes and more.

And since a Kentucky Derby party wouldn’t be complete without them, there will be mint juleps, not to mention bourbon tasting and drink specials.

Some other four-legged friends will be the life of the party in City Center on Friday, May 6.

Yappy Hour returns to New Brunswick, kicking off the season at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center.

City Center is teaming up with New Brunswick Pack Walks, New Brunswick Cultural Center, and NBPAC for the first Yappy Day of 2022.

Dogs and their humans are invited to a party inside and outside of NBPAC from 3-5 p.m.

There will be cocktails, delicious bites, and prizes for all.

The week will kick off with a Cinco de Mayo celebration in City Center, with food and drink specials at Fat Cactus, Tavern on George, and other restaurants on Wednesday.

The Cinco de Mayo party will spill over to Friday, May 6, when Above Art Studios at 55B Morris Street hosts a Paint and Sip party.

Bring your own wine or champagne, and Above Art will supply the canvas, paint, brushes, and instruction.

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, enjoy unlimited beef or vegetarian tacos.

The night will be made complete with trap music provided by DJ Kiss Me I’m Famous.
