Saint Peter's Health Care System is launching a free year-long program to help residents prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes—a disease the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says affects more than 30 million Americans.
The Prevent T2 National Diabetes Prevention Program is aimed at educating people about improved nutrition, increased exercise, stress management, and weight loss.
It is open to anyone 18 or older who has been diagnosed with prediabetes or with a history of gestational diabetes.
The next yearlong session, which will be held virtually, begins on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Registration is required, and space is limited.
Saint Peter's Prevent T2 National Diabetes Prevention Program has been recognized by the CDC with a Full Plus Recognition for 2025-2026, a designation reserved for programs that are high-quality and evidence-based.
The program is taught by registered dietitian nutritionists, and the sessions are designed to be both fun and educational.
The group format provides support and encouragement.
The virtual classes meet every other Wednesday, 7-8 p.m., for the first six months. Starting in the spring, the classes will meet monthly.
Please call 732-339-7772 for more information and to register.
